On December 28, 2023, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) published the 2024 Environmental List. For the^fifth consecutive year, the purchase of a Greenwall green noise barrier is eligible for tax incentives under the Environmental Investment Deduction and Discretionary Depreciation for Environmental Investments (MIA/Vamil) programs.

A nature-inclusive living environment

Corporate social responsibility is no longer enough. It has now become an absolute necessity for companies to commit to a cleaner, greener environment. Laws and regulations in the Netherlands are increasingly requiring necessary investments in sustainability and the environment. The RVO’s MIA and Vamil programs provide significant tax incentives to support these efforts.

MIA\Vamil

Companies receive tax benefits for investments in innovative, environmentally friendly business assets.

Under the MIA, the company benefits from an investment deduction of up to 45% of the investment amount. This deduction is in addition to the standard investment deduction. Under the Vamil, you can depreciate up to 75% of the investment costs. This can be done at a time determined by the company itself and provides liquidity and interest rate benefits. The total net tax benefit can amount to more than 14% of the investment amount.

Environmental List 2024

The basis for this is the Environmental List, which the RVO updates every year. Due to changes in European state aid rules and recommendations from the MIA\Vamil policy evaluation (2017–2021), the latest Environmental List for 2024 has been significantly revised. Above all, this means that business assets are removed from the list more quickly once they become commonplace. This does not apply to an investment in Greenwall: this year, too, it falls under the MIA/Vamil scheme, even with the maximum deduction of 45% under MIA and 75% under Vamil.
