Just nothing for a moment… peace and quiet

From time to time, we all need peace and quiet—time to relax. Time to process our experiences, reflect on what we’ve been through, and think about what we truly value in life. Time for a pit stop, to refuel and recharge. A calm, quiet environment can help us unwind. Just a break from all the distractions.

Day of Silence

Every year on the last Sunday in October, we take a moment to pause during the Day of Silence. The purpose of this annual themed day is to bring the value and benefits of silence and inner peace to the attention of as wide an audience as possible.

Activities

On the Day of Silence, many people can participate in one or more of the more than 100 silence activities offered throughout the country. These are silence activities where you can experience silence both outside and within yourself. They are listed by province on the website www.dagvandestilte.nl. For example, the Vlinder Huys in Amersfoort is hosting a “Festival of Silence,” where visitors can participate in various silence activities in the morning and afternoon.

Research

Through the “Eye, Ear, and Heart for Silence (Areas)” campaign, we are partnering with the Green Heart Foundation and Stilte Ned. Werk to raise awareness about the importance of silence and quiet areas. On the Day of Silence, you can visit a quiet area and let us know what you think of it using the free MoSART app. More information about this study can be found on the Stiltegebieden website.
